Jess is a Moose Jaw based artist exploring deep expression of human emotion through paint and canvas. Growing up in an artistic family, Jess learned at an early age how to develop a strong creative identity through sketching, painting, writing and photography.  Her passion for painting has recently evolved from a decade-long career as a portrait photographer in which she strengthened her identity through mastering the use of light on the human form.

By sharing her work Jess finds purpose in her art as a venue for bridging a connection between the emotional world and the viewer. Through loose marks and emotive expressions her art has a way of evoking a deep emotional response, bridging a sense of understanding between the creator, art and audience. Storytelling content, whether through facial expression, body language, or added elements, captivates the viewer, drawing a sense of curiosity as they engage with the piece before them, and bring them closer to pieces of themselves.

Jess’ passion for creating connection does not stop with the canvas. She believes everyone is innately creative and aspires to help others reconnect with this vital part of themselves, as a way to nurture their mental wealth. She offers a variety of workshops and mentorship sessions out of her studio, Art House, which also serves as a collective space to gather and inspire. Outside her studio, she has been involved with a number of local mental health initiatives, through public speaking and live painting.

Jess lives in a red house with her supportive husband and three children with delicious imaginations.
